Top 7 Things That I Loved When I Was a Kid (You Probably Know of)

THE KID IN ME.

We were all kids once, and in fact, there's still a bit or more of that spirit in us. It's always good to keep some of it to remind us that anything or even everything can be beautiful, fun and exciting, just like how a kid sees the world. Here are some of the things, top 7 things, that I loved way back when computers, Iphones, and other techy stuffs weren't yet so in demand. Let's say from a 1999-2006 perspective. You probably know some of them.

7. Stationery

When I was young, I used to collect a lot ( I mean a looooot) of stationary that I find nice, cute and pretty. My mom scolds me when I let her buy too much of them and I hide inside my room, not to cry and throw tantrums about how she won't buy me these stuffs anymore, for a moment that is, but to get my stationary stuffs, arrange them on my bed and just stare at them. I usually get mad when people start asking for a piece. I don't even write on them! But during occasions, I do.

Hint #1: I value handwritten letters so much, up to this point so I collect stuffs like these.
Hint #2: I still give a lot of handwritten letters and notes to my friends, my parents and to anyone.

6. Wearing Big Shirts

And I mean really huge shirts. I love wearing my Pa's or Ma's shirt since I was 5 years old. It felt like wearing a dress and it feels cool and comfortable. My childhood best friend, Jessa used to do it too. Now, I still do it sometimes, but it's a little bit sad that their shirts almost fit me and it does not look like a dress anymore, because I've grown. :D

5. Islander Slippers

Oh how I would cry for these slippers! People, like my Ma, always bragged about how these slippers last long, how sturdy they are and with all these come in a high price. I do not really know why, but I loved owning one of these. I did but I can't even remember if it was an original pair or not, nonetheless, I had one, and as far as I can remember, most people wanted to have a pair as well.

4. Roller Skate Shoes

I was a skater girl before---with these things. :))
Roller skate shoes were so famous, my classmates, schoolmates and friends started wearing these shoes in our Elementary school. I mean who won't get addicted to these awesome shoes that can make you move faster than just running and decide whether to continue skating or just hit the break on the sides of the shoes, right? I never had the chance to own one, though. When we were kids, I had two people who owned a pair; my cousin, and my neighbor. We would take turns wearing the shoes.

When we were about to buy a pair for me and my sister, these shoes were starting to lose the limelight on itself, but we didn't care. We went to hit the mall, looked for a pair aannnnd.... my parents didn't buy any roller skate shoes for us at all, because of one reason only:

The only stock left was a "Superman" design.

Hint: My Pa used to hate us owning stuffs for boys. -_-
*sigh

3. Yakult

Back when I was a kid, my Ma used to buy us; me and my sister, one Yakult each, every Sunday after the mass. This was the best reward every week, for waking up early for mass. Up until now, my taste buds still are in love with this cultured drink.

Trivia: Do you know why Yakult is served in small bottles?
"Yakult is classified as fermented milk of the Codex standard. It has 18g of sugar per 100grams. Now this is considered high sugar content as compared to Coke which has only 10g per 100 grams. This is the reason why Yakult is served in small, 65ml bottles" (Mommy Musings, 2012)

2. L*A*L*A

Having a lala chocolate, for only P6.00 for the whole bar and 25cents each piece, was like having and enjoying a bar of Toblerone. Lala, an all natural chocolate has no preservatives, no artificiaul colors and is low in fat. Seems like I have been eating healthy foods when I was younger. And finally, we reached the top of the list...

1. My 1st Cell phone-- Water Game

Technology wasn't as advanced before than it is today, and so ladies and gentlemen, lo and behold! My first cellphone ever: the water game! This sure has challenged my patience and my imagination. Well, that's the thing about being a kid, you can do all sorts of things, even without having money, just by using (insert spongebob's voice here) Imaaaaginaaaatiooon! :) The goal of this game is to press the buttons (the yellow or red) and the water pressure, if that's the term, will make those little circles move and you just have to make them fit on those spikey things inside the screen.

I don't see kids playing these anymore. :(

So yeah, basically, that's the end of my list. I hope you still have the kid in you as well, don't ever lose that; usually, that becomes our ticket to enjoying life when we become restricted with adult chores. Have a nice day! :)
