The Broken Glass and the Lamp Bringer

"When it rains and it pours,

the thunder and the lights

shatter in the sky,

and your heart wonders

in solitude, if you're truly

ever worth loving.

They told you that you

get the love you deserve,

but as soon as the lightning

strikes, you are illuminated

with the truth - that you are

too broken to be put together

and nobody keeps a broken glass,

not even the king's men who

put Humpty Dumpty

together again.

In a stormy night when

the clouds are burdened

with tears gushing through

their tender skins;

you gather your broken pieces

and lay there in silence.

The door opens and the one

who brings the lamp appears.

With his sleeping soul,

he sees you in the ebony

of darkness and takes a step -

and each step of his

is coated with deafening

silence.

The lamp bringer casts

light on your broken pieces;

A timid flicker at first, and

then a loud burst altogether -

of a million stars shining

from the broken glass

that mutes your insecurities hiding

in an unlit nook of your existence.

It fills you with a kaleidoscope

of hope and chance;

Your brokenness turned into

a timeless scar,

an artifact, even when it's

dark, or the room's empty.

And the lamp bringer -

with your starlight burst casted

upon the deepest trenches of

his being, finally awakens from

a deep, forlorn slumber of his

sleeping soul.

A broken glass -

a lamp bringer,

sees eye-to-eye, both

masterpieces disguised in

between creases and torn

pieces of their paper hearts.

You, who brought life to

his soul;

and him, an ember of

light in your darkest days -

you realize that this

is love;

Being together in spite

of each other's darkness -

amidst each other's

brokenness.

And the thunder loses

its voice, the lightning

seizes its sting, your

lungs are filled with

petrichor, and

the sun rises again.

And finally, broken

becomes beautiful."
